As you probably know, painters (like all artists) are by nature shy creatures and are happier behind the canvas rather than on it, but just to give you an insight into me, my background and my work here is a brief biography.

My first commissionI'm based in Hampshire, UK. I’ve always had a flair for drawing and as a child used to make cards for my family and friends. After my children left home and I was able to give up work, I started to attend a local painting club and this inspired me to try different mediums with some success. My daughter mentioned me to one of her friends and I received my first commission - a very old, much-loved Teddy Bear! My client was delighted with the result and spread the word and soon I was painting dogs, cats, cars and buildings. I then received a commission to paint a family portrait, which was challenging but fun and I received very positive comments from the client.

My husband then arrived home one day with a leaflet about the Open College of Art and I was persuaded that I should take on the challenge of a Diploma. During the period taken to complete this, I received 1-1 tuition from a professional artist and was introduced to a wide variety of styles and mediums. I also spent a week in France on a painting holiday, where I spent my time learning techniques about painting in watercolour and also attended life-drawing classes at a local FE College.

Twice voted best in showI am Chairwoman at Fair Oak Arts & Crafts, also Chairwoman/ Secretary at Itchen Wildlife Art Club, as well as member of Winchester Art Group where my paintings are always accepted and I have sold at most exhibitions over a number of years. My paintings have been voted 'Best in Show' by the public on a number of occasions. I have also recently joined the Society for all Artists, an organisation who "inform, encourage and inspire all who want to paint..."

I specialise in animals, both wild and domestic, as you will see from my galleries. I hope you enjoy looking at my work.
